Fresh Michigan-Grown Pawpaws for Sale
Discover America's forgotten fruit—the pawpaw, an exotic-tasting wonderfruit that’s making a well-deserved comeback. Once one of the most popular fruits in America, the pawpaw is often called the "Michigan Banana," and it's easy to see why. This unique fruit boasts a flavor best described as a blend of pineapple, mango, banana, and vanilla custard. With its creamy texture, it's like no other fruit you’ve tasted!

At Nash Nurseries, we’re proud to offer hand-harvested, Michigan-grown pawpaws, the largest native fruit in the Midwest and Eastern United States. This fruit, which traces its roots to the Tropical Custard Apple Family (Annonaceae), is a close relative of the tropical cherimoya, yet it's been growing in the U.S. since the time of the woolly mammoth.

Our pawpaws thrive in the temperate climate of the Great Lakes region, where they are lovingly cared for and picked at the peak of ripeness. Pawpaws are a true taste of Michigan’s natural bounty!

With a history dating back to Native American diets and popular with early settlers, the pawpaw was once a staple in American kitchens. As modern industrialization reshaped food production, pawpaws—due to their short shelf life—gradually fell out of favor. But now, this incredible fruit is being rediscovered by chefs, food enthusiasts, and gardeners alike.

Savor the tropical flavors of a native Michigan fruit with pawpaws fresh from our farm, handpicked and available for a limited time each season.  Pawpaws are very perishable, so if you are outside of the Great Lakes region,

Fresh Pawpaw Fruit — Shipping & Handling

Fresh pawpaws are delicate and highly perishable. We carefully wrap and cushion the fruit to help protect it during shipping.

We strongly recommend selecting 2-Day Air or Faster shipping if you are outside the Great Lakes region, or whenever estimated Ground transit exceeds two business days. Ground shipping may be suitable for nearby destinations, but delivery times vary by ZIP code and are not guaranteed.

Pawpaws continue to ripen and soften during transit. Customers selecting Ground shipping acknowledge the increased risk of overripening or spoilage associated with longer delivery times.

Shipping and handling charges include the additional wrapping, padding, packaging materials, and labor needed to prepare fresh pawpaws for shipment. These charges are calculated at checkout.

We may hold shipments until the following Monday or Tuesday to help avoid packages sitting in transit over the weekend. Please unpack and refrigerate your fruit promptly upon arrival.

If the item is in stock, we'll try to get shipments out next day if orders are placed by 1pm.

Fresh & Perishable items require expedited shipping and cannot sit over the weekend, so we may delay an order until Monday to ship.
